BIRTHDAY WISH LIST!

Just today, mom asked me what I want for my birthday. I realized that it is my birthday again in a few days. I'm turning 25, and I can say that I am pretty much happy and contented with my life now. I mean, hello?!? where's the quarter-life crisis people are talking about?

Anyway, allow me to make a self-indulgent blog post for now (it's gonna be my birthday anyway). haha! I am listing down my birthday wishes (both realistic and unrealistic) *wink* and I'm sending my mom the link. haha! Maybe I'll send the link to my friends as well, so they would already know what to give me for my birthday which I will really really really like. LOL

Okay, so here it goes...

TRIP TO JAPAN or KOREA!!!

First, I love traveling a lot! And I have always wanted to visit Japan (Tokyo, Harajuku and Osaka) or South Korea (Seoul, Jeju Island) eversince but I never got the chance. Traveling abroad refreshes me, it inspires me, it makes me fat and makes me broke. HAHA. But seriously, these Asian countries are the ones I have yet to see and be amazed by. Oh  Lord, how amazing it is to experience first hand the fashion scene of these two major asian cities? I will die for sure!

BAGS!!!

Everyone knows already that I am a major baghag. As in MAJOR! I love my designer bags as much as I love my friends. HAHA! My bags are actually some of my best friends. It'll  definitely be a maj present if someone gifts me a Givenchy Pandora or even just the Marc by Marc Jacobs Burg Boxer Bag (images above). Or any bag from Prada will do. Balenciaga perhaps? Or maybe Chanel or Hermes? Hahaha. Daydreaming again... Anyway, I collect designer bags, not for the purpose of showing off but merely to satisfy my lust over their beauty and prestige. Owning them gives me confidence and drives me to work even harder in order to feel that I deserve them. :)

SHOES!!!

I love shoes, too. But not just ordinary shoes, lately I am kinda in love with elevated or heeled shoes. I like to think that "the higher the heels, the closer I am to God". Amen! I would love a pair of Demonia Creepers or maybe the Doc Martens Brogues will also be perfect! These styles I am totally digging right now. Any brand of shoes though, I do not mind. As long as they are either super stylish or that they are elevated (three-four inches high). HAHA

MAC!!!

I love Mac! I am not a super vain person or even a make-up junkie but I do appreciate good make-up and given the opportunity, I always enjoy having myself done. Their concealers and powders and every thing are all amazing! How I wish I have a complete set/kit of MAC Basic Cosmetics. Concealer (NW30), Foundation (NC30), lip liners and lipsticks (Nude), Eyeliners, Bronzers/Matte Brown Blush, and all their brushes!!! And I can already die beautiful! Gah! I know that if I weren't a fashion designer, the closest career that I definitely will have is as a make-up artist. LOL Anyway, aside from Mac, NARS won't hurt either as I also love their products. HAHA :)

iPAD 3!!!

I have had an iPad before but never enjoyed it that much so I let it go. Now I feel the need of owning one. I could definitely use it at work. I can sketch designs freehand on it and send it right away through email to my suppliers. It can also store images and be my on-the-go moodboard and design tank. Plus, it will also be easier to play Draw Something on it. Hahaha :))

PERFUMES!!!

I am not really a fan of perfumes. Actually, all my perfumes at home were all gifts. I never buy perfumes. But my stock is kinda running on low so I think I need a refurbishing and refill. My fave scents are: DSquared Wood, Burberry Weekend, Lanvin Eclat and Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Lavender. It is always nice to smell good all the time. :)

I still have more but I guess these pretty much sums up what will make me happy on my birthday. Haha!  Kidding!

I am already happy now, nothing more to ask for. I am blessed with a good career, a happy family, amazing friends and a wonderful life full of adventure, and exciting stuff. All these material things are just icing on top. Makes life more delicious as it already is.

So there! Hahaha!

I'll blog soon whether or not I receive any of the items I listed above for my birthday. LOL

Beware: New Robbery Modus Operandi

Just this afternoon, around 1:30 pm, as I was on my way home from the Quezon City Hall to get my medical certificate, I was interrupted by a man asking if I know any place where tattooed youngsters hang out. I was about to ride a trike to our house when he approached me. He said he noticed my tattoos at the nek and arms that's why he asked me.

He introduced himself as PO1 Eric *i forgot the surname* and told me that just a few minutes ago, a riot has occured (there in Philcoa) an hour ago, where his neice and her niece's boyfriend got mobbed and beaten up by a group of tattoed guys and a lesbian. I told him I don't know about such place where tattoed guys hang out, and that I have no idea about the riot that happened as I was busy at the City Hall.

At first he was courteous, he told me he is undercover to investigate the incident and asked if I am okay to be asked a few more quetions just to help with the case since they are determined to find the "bad guys". Being someone who just wanted to help, I headed to his request and did cooperate.

His questioning was a bit verging into being accusing and abusive. It was like he's trying to make me admit I am part of the group which caused the riot and hurt his family members. It kinda put me off and just told him there's is no way I am part of that group, or any group for that matter since I am not very sociable and I dislike being in a group.

Then a lesbian (sorry guys, I don't intend to sound discriminating or anything, just giving you a clear narrative about the events) walked infront of us (we are still near the tricycle bay) and he also asked the lesbo if he can interrogate her since it was said that part of the riot gang was a lesbian wearing black and has highlights on her hair, which perfectly fits the look of the lesbian who just walked by. The lesbo, (she said her name is Joy) said yes, and like me, said that she was no part of the gang.

Then another man came in the scene, and was introduced by the "police officer" as Kagawad. He said they are taking Joy and I to the precinct to be asked a couple of more questions. They asked us to cooperate and even threatened us that if we refuse, there is possibility that we will be suspected as guilty or part of the group.

On our way to the "precinct", we (the police officer, the kagawad, Joy and I) walked from Philcoa to Eliptical Road near the Department of Agriculture. At this point, I was already skeptical about the things happening and knew right then that something is really wrong. "PO1 Eric" kept on asking questions and quite insisting that we should cooperate or else we will be accused of being guilty.

He even told us that his niece lost her wallet containing money, and her cellphone. He asked Joy and I how much money we were carrying that time and asked if we have our ATM with us. He even checked our phones. By that time, my suspicions grew wildly and I knew right then that something isn't right.

We stopped at the waiting shed infront of the Department of Agriculture. "PO1 Eric" told me that he will have Joy join him first at the precinct, as the victims were there to identify if she was part of the riot. He left me at the waiting shed with the kagawad. Before they left, PO1 Eric asked Joy if she can leave her bag with me since she needs to go at the precinct carrying nothing so as we won't be suspected by the other police fficers ("Kpaga nakita kayong may hawak na malaking pera at cellphone, baka paginitan kayo ng ibang pulis isipin na kasama nga kayo nung gang at kayo ang nagnakaw ng pera ng pamangkin ko")

While PO1 Eric and Joy were away, I was hinting to the kagawad that I already want to go. I told him that this is not the proper way of policemen to interrogate a civilian because of an incident. I also told him that I have a bad feeling and that I will not hesitate to make a call to someone I know from the Police (but I actually do not know anyone from the authorities). I opened my phone and pretended to text. The kagawad said he needs to see what I am texting just to make sure that I am not texting "my gang mates", if ever I was involved. I showed him my phone, which is on the message screen with me typing the message "Da, ini-interrogate ako ng undercover police at kagawad dito sa may DA, may riot daw na nangyari sa Philcoa. Baka pwede mo tawagan si Major para tulungan ako dito kasi naaabala ako may client pa akong dapat puntahan ngayon". I sent it to my other phone number which is saved as "B" on my contacts.

I did that to intimidate the "kagawad", to let him know that I already know what they are up to, and to threaten him that I know someone who can bust them and have them arrested.

On the other hand, while I was keeping my cool and trying to be brave, I felt very disturbed and afraid not knowing what I should do next in order to escape them. I was not sure if letting the kagawad know that I already know about their dirty tactics is a good move, but at that time, I was already preparing myself to the worst that can happen, just in case they have guns or knives that they can use on me.

After 5 mins, PO1 Eric and Joy came back, with Joy looking very afraid. PO1 told me that it's my turn to go with him, and just like Joy, I should leave my things. He asked me to leave my bag to Joy. At that time, I hesitated. (Excuse me, it's my Gucci Bag, iPhone and 10K cash at stake and I cannot entrust that to someone I barely know). I know that when I leave my things with her, she's just going to run away with it. She's part of this group and this whole interrogation thing!

I said I will not leave my things no matter what. The police officer already changed his tone and became aggressive. He already used bad words on me. He threatened me that I was acting guilty and that he will arrest me. I said I am not afraid if he'll arrest me because I am innocent and have nothing to do with anything that transpired at the riot. I told the police officer and the kagawad. But I just cannot entrust my valuables to someone I do not know. I am not that stupid. And I also told them that if they intend to bring me to the station and be interrogated, I will call our family lawyer first. I told him that what they were doing is illegal. I told them I know police SOP during this kind of situation and that he (the police officer) can be reprimanded and be filed a case with what he is doing to me. (I tried to conceal my shaky voice). I saw the kagawad whispered something to him.

The police officer suddenly changed tones, and told me that he believes me and that he will no longer ask me to come with him to the precinct. He and Joy left immediately and the kagawad followed them. I rushed to get a taxi cab.

Inside the cab, I was shaking. Aside from the intense heat, it's the feeling of fright and not knowing what bad can happen which really got into my nerves. I felt so relieved and I cannot thank all the angels enough who have saved me from that situation.

When I got home, I immediately called my sister and told her about the incident. I wanted to warn her, I wanted to keep her away from the bad guys. For I know should it had been her on the situation, she will be frightened to death and will be left robbed with everything. (I just cannot let that happen)

After I got my composure back, I cannot help but feel bad afterwards. I felt bad that there are people who are up to going that far to decoy, scam and rob other people. I felt bad, thinking that after me, what if there is someone who got victimized by this group and left with his/her things taken? And I felt bad not being able to report it to the police immediately, since I was actually on a rush to meet a client.

I wrote this post to warn everyone about this new (I am not sure if this modus operandi is NEW) tactics bad guys do to get things from people. I would like you guys to spread the word and make everybody else be aware and informed. This is a lesson for everyone. Do not talk to strangers. If they introduce themselves to be police authorities, politely ask for their identification or police badge to be sure. Do not trust just anybody with your things, and in case of compromised safety or instances where you find yourself in the midst of frightening and dangerous circumstances, clear your mind and think of ways how you can escape safely, and pray pray pray.

HAPPY!

Hey guys!!! I may be one of the happiest people on earth right now!!!

Iam very happy ti share to all of you guys (finally) that I am now the new Product Development Manager - Head Designer for Menswear of top local fashion brand Folded & Hung. I am very excited with this new challenge and journey I will be taking, and I really feel so grateful and blessed to be given this opportunity. With my heart full of joy and appreciation, I am thankful to all who have supported me and still continue to support me in my fashion career, even though my fashion styling job must take the backseat for the meantime for me to be able to concentrate fully on my designing.

Another thing to be happy about is that I share this special day with one of the most talented and sweetest and prettiest girls I know, EMMANUELLE VERA, as her self titled debut album goes out in selected music retail stores today. I have been given the privilege of knowing this very very talented girl, and I would really like to support her in her first album. (And you guys should, too!)

I first met her February last year during the Sessionista concert, as I was styling for my dear friend Markki Stroem at that time, they both were guest performers for the concert. I got to talk to her and her lovely and very kind mom, and from then on, I just fell in love the girl's talent and personality. And since then, we had few occasions of bumping into each other around ABS-CBN during ASAP or around Greenhills, and she always is very friendly and sweet.

Anyway, here's her carrier single, first song out from her album entitled "HAPPY", which she wrote/composed herself, (read: TALENT) which is so easy on the ears and on the heart. It's the type of song that you want to be playing on the background while you and your crush, or maybe bestfriend ^_^ are sharing a snack or cup coffee together. It's a sweet sugary feel-good song. Here's a sample audio clip of the song:

I am very happy for Emman, and I would like to say congratulations and keep up the great job you are doing. I am a fan, and I will be following you as you grow and blossom in your career.

One more happy news today: My sister just told me about her graduation date and her being a contender for latin honors. It really feels great and it warms my heart tenfolds, having been working hard to help with her college education, she is now finally graduating. I am very proud of her and I totally admire my sister for working so hard in her studies despite some family problems and bumps within the family that we had to go through these past few years. I love you sis, and for sure, I will be making your graduation dress. :)

I hope everyone is having a great day today, if not then maybe tomorrow.

Spreading love and happiness to all!

Catch y'all later!

2011 Playlist: My 2011 in Songs

Year 2011 is coming to an end, sooner than we all expected. And before we bid adieu to the year that has been and welcome 2012 (I always get chills whenever I read/write/think of this number) with a bang, I would like to share with you the songs that make up the soundtrack of my 2011. Songs (both old and new) which capture all the experiences, emotions, thoughts and moments I had in this entire year. Some were good, some were bad, but all definitely shaped me and made me a better person.

The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved

For a lot of moments this year, I felt like I am the man who can't be moved, (or the man who can't move on). That no matter what I do, and no matter how hard people I love push me away, I still go back to that "corner" in my heart and mind where I am most happy and strong---that certain corner where the people I love will forever be.

Beyonce - Love on Top

This Beyonce song just can't help but make me feel happy. It also makes me feel so in-love even though I really am not in-love with someone. This is one of my songs with my favorite Ate, the woman I trust the most and the one whom I can be at my most honest, most fragile and most vulnerable---Ate Caress Caballero. Booty, I miss you so much! Will see you soon! :)

Lady Gaga - Born This Way

"I am beautiful in my way coz God makes no mistakes. I'm on the right track baby, I was born this way". Enough said.

\
India Arie - The Heart of the Matter

This is my song for that certain person that I truly love and admire, and despite the rollercoaster ride we both had with each other, (losing that respect and trust, and regaining them back), I still feel the same for him. He is still the best friend that I have and will always be. I still love him and respect him and will always be here for him no matter what happens.

Frou Frou - Let Go

And there are the people and things I had to let go of, not because I want to but because I need to---to make room for new and better people and things in my life.

Nicki Minaj - Super Bass

This is my ultimate song for this year. Not because I am a Nicki Minaj fan, nor I love rap songs, but this is one hella fun song that makes me happy every time I hear it. This is the first rap song I have ever memorized. Haha! And ask my friends, whenever they hear this song, I am always the first person they come to remember, promise!

Pink - Raise Your Glass

This song never fails to boost my confidence and spirit whenever I feel sad or down or just plain blah. Besides, this is my ultimate road trip song. I can still imagine that car ride on the way home with my two best guy buds Markki and Mac.

The Killer - Smile Like You Mean It

:)

Adele - Someone Like You

Just because I freakin love Adele, and just because her songs are just so spot on for all drama queens like me. This song is the ultimate tearjerker and heartbreaker for me. The pain, the hurt, the love.... all that. Ugh!

So there, the songs of my year. What's yours?

By the way, I will be flying to somewhere later early morning and I am not sure if I will be able to post till I come back. Anyway, I would like to greet you guys a Happy Happy Christmas and a Bountiful New Year!

xoxoRJ

DIY: Gold Glitter Shoes

Hi guys! How's everybody doing?

I know most of you went on hiatus on your provinces for the long weekend vacation. And while I am stuck here in Manila, I thought of doing something productive in a fashionable way. Here comes our first DIY project for my blog! :)) Yay!!!

I found this old yellow trainers from Zara sitting on the corner of my closet. I have only used it for five times (or less). Because everytime I do, it always rains (I really don't know why, but that's true) so by the day ends whenever I get home, it is always muddy and dirty so I have to ask our maid to wash it every time. Its bright yellow color faded eventually that's why I never got to use it again, but it is still in a very good condition tho.

Anyway, I thought of transforming it to something new and made it into my own version of GOLD GLITTER SHOES!!!

Follow the simple steps below to make your own glitter shoes too. :)

Materials:
  • Old Shoes
  • Elmer's All Purpose Glue (Rubber Cement)
  • Elmer's Spray Adhesive
  • Glitters
  • Paint Brush

1. Get your old shoes that you want to turn into a glittery wonder. Make sure to use/lay old newspaper on your workplace to avoid too much mess and to make it easier for you to clean up after.

2. Stuff your shoes with plastic. Then apply an even layer of Elmer's Glue on your shoes using a paint brush. Sprinkle glitters on the area.

3. When your shoes is already evenly covered with glitters, let it sit and allow the glue to dry. It takes about an hour or two.

4. When already dry, make sure to shake off excess glitters. Then apply a thin coat of Elmer's Spray Adhesive to properly set it the glitters. I got the spray adhesive at Ace Hardware for P240.00.

5. Let the spray adhesive dry completely. Let the shoes sit for a couple of hours (I had mine overnight). Then, it is done! You may put back the lace and viola!

You're very own Glitter Shoes!!! Dorothy will be envious, for sure!

Now excuse me ya'll. I will take my new shoes for a spin later for our Halloween Barkada shindig.

Make your own version too, and hope you share it and let me know about it. :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS!!!!

MARIO MAURER for PENSHOPPE: Kilig Overload!

Hi guys! So tonight probably was the highlight of the entire fashion week---the Penshoppe Fashion Show featuring young Thai superstar Mario Maurer.

It is very evident that this show was the most successful this season, with the massive (and I mean MASSIVE) turn out of people who went in to see the heartthrob from Bangkok. And with the huge number of guests, majority were actually not able to come inside the venue. I feel for them , wherein most of them actually came from far places and spent hundreds of bucks just to get hold of an invite. It turned out that Penshoppe actually sent and gave out tickets more than the venue can accomodate.

Anyway, to those who were not able to catch the show live and see Mario in the flesh, please let me share with you some of the photos I took (using my Nokia N9) during the show. Of course, this is Mario overload, so are you ready?

This first shot really just made my day. I was seated at the front row and he stopped right infront of me and he said "HI!"

BAM!!! The perfect shot of the night! (I just died! My dear friend Markki who was seated beside me was laughing at me hysterically coz I was acting such a fan boy! LOL)

Anyway, enjoy the rest of the photos I took. Too bad I wasn't able to bring in a decent camera, anyway my N9 (Thank you again NOKIA for sponsoring a new phone for me. ^_^ ) did the job for me, and all I can say is..... NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN, MARIO! And again, you ate my heart out...

After a short intro video, Mario came out and the crowd just went C-R-A-Z-Y!!!

Cute shoes. It was so funny coz I was just below him, where he was standing, and I felt like a fanatic worshiping the patron saint of cuteness. LOL

He looked at me again! <3

Mario Maurer and VJ Utt. And on the far right, my bestie MAC!!!!! :)

Final look. The crowd went HYSTERICAL!!! Seriously!!!

So there! Hope you liked the photos. I have more but will reserve them for future posts. :P But the night was so fun and amazing. Twas kinda sad though coz some of my friends who went to the venue to watch were not able to get in and witness the show.

Kudos to my bestfriend Mac Manicad for working the runway. Great job! :)

And thanks to my other bestfriend Markki Stroem for accompanying me on the front row and serving as my shock absorber during the "Mario Moment". :p

Our pic at the frontrow. I looked so haggard after the whole Mario Moment. LOL

And lastly, thank you PENSHOPPE for my cool outfit for the night. Amazeballs!

Shirt, Pants, Bracelet and Purse from PENSHOPPE. Shoes and Belt from Zara.

Looking forward to the next Mario Maurer x Penshoppe event.

THANK YOU! :)

Have a great night!!!
